Reading Senior High School

 Who's Who

  • Mr Joseph S. Smith

    Conductor

Mr Smith is thrilled to be back making great music and inspired theatre at RHS after his sabbatical last year. He has been proudly teaching music at Reading High for almost 20 years. Mr Smith is an active pianist, singing teacher, NYC aficionado, and nice guy. He is forever grateful that he took a chance in the fall of 2013 to begin a music theatre program with RHS students because art is not a supplement or luxury, it’s essential.

Mr Joseph Occhiogrosso

Mr. O has been teaching in the Reading School District since 2015 and has served as the General Music teacher at Reading High School since 2018. He has been involved in the school’s theater productions since 2020. A graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania (B.S.) and Wilkes University (M.Ed.), he is proud to work with such a talented and dedicated group of students and staff.

Mrs Holly Keown

Mrs. Keown has been teaching vocal music in the RSD for over 20 years. She started working on fall shows alongside Mr. Smith in 2013 with Songs for a New World and hasn’t stopped since. She is grateful for the opportunity to give back some of the memories RHS music provided for her. What a pleasure it is to help make a difference in the world through musical theatre!

Ms Kate Perkins

Ms Perkins has been teaching art in the RSD since 2000. As an active member of the Greater Berks Arts Community, she regularly exhibits her work and continuously strives to find artistic opportunities for her students. She is thrilled to be a part of the school show team. This experience is an excellent chance to expand the partnership of the related arts at RHS.

Ms Alexandra Meck

Miss Alli is honored to be back as choreographer for her fourth year with the outstanding RHS musical staff and students. In The Heights was an amazing experience to begin her work at RHS, and Alli is excited about all the dancing in this year's show! As a former student of the Berks County performing arts herself, it is such a privilege for her to be allowed to educate and inspire future generations.

Ms Kaitlyn Lerch

Ms. Lerch is a dedicated art educator with eight years of experience at RKAA City Line, teaching 11th and 12th grade. She has contributed to three musicals, combining her passion for visual arts and theater. She loves fostering creativity and is excited to bring her expertise to Guys and Dolls through its visual design.

Mrs Savannah Helleis

Mrs. Helleis has been teaching at Reading School District since 2022. This is her second year helping with the school show. She is a graduate of Kutztown University with a B.F.A in Art Education. She is grateful for the opportunity to work with the theater students and can’t wait to help in the future.
