Ben Wheeler

Technical Director

Ben Wheeler has been a faculty member here at DFA for the past 12 years. Mr. Wheeler teaches middle school Stagecraft and high school Technical Theatre. Some of the shows he is most proud of here at DFA include Chicago, West Side Story, Junie B. Jones, You're a Good Man Charlie Brown, The Tempest, & The Little Mermaid. Mr. Wheeler has been working in theatre since high school. He received his B.A. in Theatre Arts from Catawba College in 2001, and his M.F.A. in Design from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2006. He was Resident Lighting Designer for Playhouse on the Square in Memphis, TN for 4 years and has toured the country with Chamber Reparatory Theatre as Asst Stage Manager and Lighting Tech. He has served on the faculty of Northwestern State University of Louisiana, St. Gregory's University in Oklahoma, and at Augusta University before arriving at DFA. Mr. Wheeler credits his wife Raine and his daughter Penelope for keeping him sane and grounded.
