That Was Then the musical is set in the late 1950s, and 12-year-old Frankie just wants to recover from a stomach bug but can’t stay home alone. With no money for a babysitter, he goes to work with his mom, leading his life down an unexpected path of fame, fortune and ultimately regret. The one saving grace is the new friend he meets in Virginia Horowitz. Through the span of a decade the local Hop & Shop, provides Frankie with warmth and camaraderie. The daily rhythms of the store, along with shared stories and kind gestures, guide him through his life crisis.
Thank you for joining us for the 11th all original MMTS musical, a heartwarming tale that explores themes of regret, hope, and the power of human connection. Through laughter and wildly entertaining musical numbers, this production takes you into Frankie’s world, where the Hop & Shop becomes more than just a convenience store. It’s a place where lives intersect, friendships blossom, and the possibility of second chances emerges!
