Alice @ Wonderland - April 23

Mooresville Graded Schools

 End Notes

Thank you for coming! I am so honored to have been able to work with these wonderful young actors. All of the students have worked hard on what you are about to see tonight. We started the semester working on improvisation and explored various types of theatre throughout the semester including musicals and Shakespeare.

Students also explored backstage roles that were needed to help our play go as smoothly as possible. Some students served as actors and backstage crew members while other members on our team chose solely an onstage or backstage role. The entire process has been one big collaborative effort.

'Alice @ Wonderland' is a modern day version of 'Alice in Wonderland.' In our version Alice has a cell phone and Starbucks exists. When researching I found that these two things both became a part of our modern world in the 1970s. Our version of the story also requires the characters to dance at just the mention of the name, 'Wonderland.' With that, we thought it fitting to pay homage to the time period that gave us constant accessibility to each other and tasty caffeine that keeps us as energized as the white rabbit by adding 70s music throughout our first show and during the curtain call in our second show.

The students in both classes were intentional about adding music that matched the overall themes in the play. We hope you enjoy!
