 End Notes

Chicago is an iconic, timeless musical. The film adaptation won multiple Academy Awards, and its impact on popular culture is undeniable. So, the question became: Why produce this show now? What does Chicago still have to say all these years later?

As I explored that question, the answer became clear: Chicago remains as relevant today as ever. Our society continues to grapple with media sensationalism. Everywhere we look, headlines are crafted to shock and grab attention—often at the expense of truth. In a world driven by likes, shares, and viral moments, the themes of Chicago—media manipulation, public perception, and the blurring of morality for fame—feel eerily present. My hope is that you leave this production not only entertained, but also inspired to question the narratives we’re fed every day.

I must take a moment to thank my incredible staff. Their dedication, creativity, and support were essential in bringing this production to life. More importantly, they fostered a rehearsal environment that was safe, open, and collaborative. If you ever have the chance to work with any of them, take it—you’re in for something truly special.

To my cast: We did it! I am constantly in awe of your dedication, talent, and—most importantly—your kindness. You shine brilliantly on that stage, and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with each and every one of you. I can’t wait to see where your journeys take you next. I’ll always be your number one fan.

To the Northmont Crew and our amazing band: Thank you for your professionalism and hard work. Your efforts are the glue that holds this production together—and the final, delicious icing on our cake.

Finally, to my support system: Thank you for being there during the 2 a.m. meltdowns, for picking up the pieces when my schedule became unmanageable, and for keeping life moving when I couldn’t even cook myself a meal. You are my heartbeat, and I will never stop being grateful for your love and strength.

This show is dedicated to my late father, Rob Vonderbrink. My work ethic is your legacy, and it’s an honor to carry that light forward. I love you—always and forever.
